When I was young, my family would drive past a turkey farm every Sunday. When I was old enough to understand what a turkey farm was for, I would yell out the window “Run Turkeys Run!” I had no problem eating turkey at Christmas, or Thanks Giving, but the thought of killing the bird did bother me.

Now I an older, and I have taken up archery. The friend, who convinced me to buy my own bow, did so with the express intension of taking me bow hunting. Today another friend told me that he a turkey problem on his property. A 16 pound turkey, and others, has beaten a path through his back yard. He has asked if I could help him remove the problem.

I think it is going to be a happy Thanks Giving.

Last night [info]biznamshiznit and I went out to dinner in Greektown, where the restaurants all have names like Zeus and Athena and Parthenon (we ate at a place called Santorini, heh), then saw Linsey Alexander at Rosa's Lounge. The bouncer had to call us a taxi and the driver was a total gamer (after 8 CPD cars drove past us with lights flashing, followed by a paddy wagon, he said: "It's like when you've beaten all the monsters on the level and then the big boss comes out." Heh).

On the elevator back to my room I met a curious individual who wanted to tell me all about his 22-year-old mail-order bride. Oooooo-kay. O_o

Off to find breakfast and then learn all about making the library appealing to freshmen.

The cria in now three days old and doing well. His tendon hasn't stretched enough to allow him to walk normally, but he's making progress.

More of the woolly one. And other stuff too. Always other stuff. Like, an art fair, for example. )

I owe [info]melstra and [info]hillarygayle words for that Five Word meme. It shall be done! Later!

Looks like "the crunch" has subsided for the immediate future, at work.

D&D tomorrow.

Going home soon, and going to read on the bus. Wodehouse, I think. Joy in the Morning.

I could kill for a back rub. :)

I did end up going to Legends last night—Tab Benoit! Awesome!—and got back to the hotel quite late (note to [info]rwx: thanks for the assistance, I did end up catching a cab, the door bouncer liked my BOOK CLUB t-shirt, hee) and today have mostly been recovering from not getting much sleep this week.

Which is sort of a bummer, as the next three days will be mostly taken by conference activities, but maybe I can snag a few hours to go see the Sears Tower or something.

Going to go check in with the conference and try to catch up with [info]biznamshiznit. Maybe IS Soiree for a bit, maybe not.

(Note to [info]trailofstars: last night's cabdriver likes Kingston Mines, too, so there is a plan afoot to go there tomorrow night. I might try Rosa's tonight if I'm feeling up to it. Thanks for the suggestions. Most of the others I've received are in areas I apparently shouldn't go into without a large group of friends, so.)

I was intending to work from home today - and indeed I am home - but the remote network is done, and will be down for much of the day. And there are things to do.

So, time to haul myself off again to Toronto.
