NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM

Six seems to be the most popular. Yes, I'm bored.

Here are the general hit results:
2 - 2,420,000
3 - 908,000
4 - 106,000
5 - 62,700
6 - 8,130,000
7 - 32,000
After which it settles out around 7200, except for an odd blip at 24.

Tell me who's searching for "nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom" on Google? 7000 different people?

Isn't nom nom nom nom nom nom enough?

Um, well *I* was searching for it... But to answer the question, peobably weird people very desperate for hits. Whatever demographic uses the word, I don't know. :P

Ack! You posted more noms! Now I have to do the stats all over again! :)

Wait, was that people searching for noms, or was that results that had noms on the page?

If the second, it's a lot worse than I feared.

I'm surprised there weren't more for nomX7 since there's a song by that name.
dronon From: dronon Date: July 22nd, 2009 08:34 am (UTC) (Link)
Maybe the people who used nomX6 were doing a mass typographical error when they meant to type nomX7? (??)

Or people might just be lazy, nomX6 brings up the same YT vids as nomX7. (I'm bored.)

BTW, "om-nom" in felinish seems to mean, "Go away, I'm eating!"

Truly, you are a man of science! What's so suboptimal about 5 noms, I wonder?
dronon From: dronon Date: July 22nd, 2009 08:35 am (UTC) (Link)
Hard to say... Maybe it's one nom too short to get across a good feeling of nomness? Sort of like the three rocks thing.

Why?

Oddly enough though, I'm still fascinated by this!
dronon From: dronon Date: July 22nd, 2009 08:37 am (UTC) (Link)
Why? 'Cause I'm ripping off some other fellow's much cooler graph! Lucky bastard had a much larger sample size to play with too. :P

Stop eating my blog! :)

Angus asked me to write a script that did exactly this for "blah", "blah blah", and so forth. It turns out Google tells you you're being silly after something like 30 repetitions in the search string.

It would be trivial to run it with "nom" instead of "blah".

Re: Data table (long).

Well, that's odd. The layout's about the same except now the odd outlying blip is at 28? I left out nom=1 because it's too common a word by itself. (It means "name" in French, for example.)
